Parish Charity Nomination Form 2019

Icknield Way Parish Charity Partner Selection For 2019
Please help by nominating a charity
Fund raising, for a charity alongside our own parish, is one of the activities of our church.
We are conscious that the parish is in constant need of funds; however, we seek to
serve others as loving members of Christ’s family. In 2017 we donated over £5,000 to The Salvation Army, Saffron Walden Branch, and this year we have already donated in excess
of £2,500 to Romsey Mill, towards the wonderful work they do with young people in Cambridgeshire. This is not an exclusive arrangement. Other charities have also been
supported during the year.

We have a robust process to determine future charity partners. All parishioners are invited to be involved in the process of nominating a charity.
There are a few criteria listed below to help the nomination and selection process
Any suggestions should be made using the Proposal Form, on the back of this sheet, on the Website or available from the Church Office, by the end of January.  The final selection will be announced at the APCM in April and commence from then.

CHOOSING OUR CHARITY PARTNER FOR 2019: CRITERIA

Appeal: The charity/cause should have appeal to the parish. This may mean a local charity but not necessarily as it should include causes, which are important to local people
The beneficiaries of the charity should be as broad as possible
The charity should be established on Christian values
The charity should not be overtly linked to another religion
Building a relationship: There should be mechanisms for feedback and involvement from the charity during the year (and beyond).
Determine measurable impact/ benefit: The monies raised should have an identified benefit and ideally there would be an opportunity for the parish to gain some benefit/learning too (not solely from community spirit in focussing on a shared goal)
Distinctive: Different to the previous charity partner
Champion: Once selected there should be a sponsor for the partnership on the PCC
Charity competence: Due diligence
i the charity should be well run. Income should be clearly directed to the described beneficiaries.
ii the charity should have sound governance The administration of the charity should be clear and well organised
iii Financial Health, Accountability and transparency The charity must have sustained its programs and services over time and have commitment to being accountable and transparent
iv All nominations will be discussed, and a decision made, by the PCC
